Our mood and well -being largely depends on the interior surrounding us – the design of the room, furniture located in it, and, of course, the materials that are used in the design of the apartment. It is paints and varnishes that can give our home grace and uniqueness.
There is a huge variety of varnishes, enamels and colors that can be combined into two groups. The first group includes varnishes and enamels related to organized materials. The second group is the water -dispersive paints.
Paint materials differ in fillers and pigments in their composition. Modern manufacturers offer a wide variety of varnishes and colors. Alkyd varnishes are a solution of alkyd resins, they are highly spent waterproof, when applying varnish, the surface has a very beautiful view. Lacques dissolved in vegetable oils are called oil. Such varnishes are used to apply wood products. However, many oil varnishes are unstable to mechanical damage and quickly abrasion.
Pretty cheap and rapidly drying nitro -cellulose varnishes, or nitrolaki, are made using very toxic solvents. They should not be used in residential premises.
Acrylate (acrylic) varnishes are considered the most environmentally acceptable, because their basis is water. Such varnishes, depending on the variety, are used for any surfaces – wooden, brick and even concrete.
With increased strength, water resistance and resistance to chemicals, epoxy varnishes are quite harmless after drying. Before use, they need to be prepared: mix varnish and hardener.
Due to increased strength and resistance to various influences, polyurethane varnishes are considered the most reliable. They have many varieties, each of which is designed to process certain surfaces.
Emali is obtained when added a tanned pigment to varnish, diluted solvent, usually a white spirit and based on epoxy resin, such as the EP-1155 enamel from the company Lacrac. Enamel can be applied with a roller or brush, there are also aerosol enamels. Their main advantage is rapid drying.
