When used in the construction of foam concrete, it is necessary that it has a long service life. To do this, you need to carry out a number of measures to protect blocks from high humidity, carbonization. In addition, it is necessary that the air flow is limited to foam concrete.
The easiest way to ensure protecting foam concrete is to apply plaster to its surface. When buying a plaster, you should dwell on a steam -permeable type, since its inner layer should prevent the penetration of not only air, but also steam. But at the same time, steam entering through the inner layer of plaster into the room should have a free exit through the external coating. If the steam linger inside the walls, this will lead to the appearance of cracks on the surface of the plaster. To solve this problem, it is advisable to make the facades ventilated. To do this, you need to apply a plaster on the outside, the layer thickness of which will be about twice thinner than the layer of plaster on the inside. So, if a layer of plaster on the outer wall is 20 millimeters, then on the inner wall it should be 40 millimeters thick.
When performing these works, it must be remembered that foam concrete does not absorb moisture, therefore, the plaster dries from the outside. Therefore, in case of need, it is possible to level the coating.
Particularly carefully should be taken to the surface of foam blocks. If they were done using a cutting method, then their coating is quite rough, so the plaster on them will be bad. If the foam blocks were made using the casting method, then their surface must be subjected to high -quality processing and applied a hydrophobized layer.
