The bathtub that Lixil studio presented at the Designart Tokyo exhibition is something between a bathtub and a hammock. It can be hung on hooks attached to the walls of the shower and filled with water, and after bathing, it can be rolled up and put away in a box.
According to the authors of the project, this is a good option for those who do not have space for a full-fledged bathtub at home.
The Bathtope bathtub is made of polyester covered with a polyurethane film – it makes the fabric waterproof. The designers used whole pieces of fabric to minimize the likelihood of leaks due to seams. The bathtub can hold up to 140 liters of water and, according to the studio, it is much more economical than a regular bathtub of the same size.
Moreover, the company claims that the softness of the fabric makes bathing more comfortable. “Bathtope is unique in its elasticity, it allows you to take the most relaxed pose, relaxed posture,” the designers add.
